Does Hawaiʻi Accept Out of State MMJ cards? Yes, through a process known as reciprocity – a 10-minute online application that’s typically approved in 3-5 business days.

You Should Know

Begin Early

It can take up to a week (or more if the application isn’t filled out correctly) to obtain a 329-V card, which is required to legally possess cannabis while on vacation in Hawaiʻi.

Tip: You can begin the online app up to 60 days prior to your vacation. The application will ask for your vacation start date.

Confirm Eligibility

You must be a State certified medical cannabis patient for one of Hawaiʻi’s qualifying conditions. Authorizations/prescriptions from a physician do not qualify.

329-V Card

You must register online with the Hawaiʻi Department of Health (DOH) to obtain a 329-V card. Your “home” state MMJ card will not be accepted at Hawaiʻi dispensaries.
